Lance Kershner- Lower School Principal

Mr. Lance has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from the University of Central Arkansas.  He holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Buffalo State College and a Certificate of International School Leadership from the Principals Training Center in Miami, Florida.  In addition to these degrees, he has a DELE Certificate (Diploma de Español Como Lengua Extranjera) from Instituto Cervantes at the Near Native level in Spanish.  Lance has 19 years of experience as an educator–15 years of his experience have been teaching abroad in Singapore and Guatemala. 

At Singapore American School, Lance taught Kindergarten for 7 years where he also served as a Coordinator and served on the Language Arts Committee to rewrite the Early Childhood through Grade 12 Language Arts curriculum.  In Singapore, Lance taught for 4 years as an Elementary School Spanish teacher, where he worked with a team to create a world-class language program with high levels of language proficiency.  At Colegio Maya in Guatemala, Lance has taught Grades 1 and 2 and served as chair of the Language Arts Committee.  In addition to his experience in the classroom, Lance has provided numerous professional development workshops for teachers and he has worked as part of the leadership team at Colegio Maya in Guatemala as the Elementary School Literacy Coordinator.  

Lance’s favorite pastimes include spending time with his two daughters (ages 4 and 11), reading, health and fitness, travel, and singing and playing the piano.
